Ever After

Dear Jane,

Newton’s First Law: An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

I was MOBILIZED! I was quilting a block a day! And then things got crazy. I got stressed and overwhelmed and busy. And all of the sudden, my momentum came to a screeching halt. I went two days without working on a block. It seemed that Dear Jane was going the way of the other closet full of UFO’s (unfinished objects). It was going to become a PIG (Project In Grocery sack). Mom and Heidi were rapidly producing new blocks, and I was being left in the dust. (Speaking of dust, don’t their houses ever get dirty and need attention? If so, when do they find time to quilt AND clean?)

But last night, tired yet determined, I went back in, faced the demons that had paralyzed me, and sewed A8.

It wasn’t a difficult block, but overcoming my stagnation was a victory, nonetheless. Mobilized once again, I started on A9. Bryan came home from Bishop visits and even got in on the action, helping me figure out how to position a piece of fabric so that I didn’t have to a cut a bigger rectangle. I honestly think that he would enjoy quilting. Wouldn’t that be a fun treat–to have Dear Jane be OUR baby!

Love,

Lori
