Tad is one TOUGH kid. He rarely cries when he gets hurt, and if he does cry, you know he’s REALLY hurt. And I love that he’s still young enough to be soothed by his momma’s kisses.

Must be a boy thing! They never cry when they get hurt unless they want the sympathy that they learn they can get when their sisters cry. Oh just wait one day he will wipe that kiss off but then come back for another!

Really, though you’ll be hard-pressed to find a teenage guy who’ll admit it, I don’t think anyone ever gets too old to be soothed by Momma’s kisses, do you? I remember when I was at BYU and I was in the hospital awaiting surgery. It literally was 2 days after I found out I needed surgery. I was sitting there in the bed waiting nervously for them to come get me, and the door opened. I’ll never forget the feeling that enveloped me when my Mom stood there. I hadn’t dared asked her to come, as I knew how expensive the flight and time off from work would be. But in that moment, her love was clearly evidenced by that sacrifice. And, notably, just her presence began to soothe my anxiety.
